Book Design
Whether it is just a few pages of words and illustrations, or an 80,000 word novel, the design and layout of a book for publishing is a daunting task and not one to be take on lightly.
When I was first asked to do this seriously - for Michael Starkey's first book of Ramsey Scenes - it took me a very long time to get it right and some of the lessons learned were hard to bear.
Each subsequent project has been easier to manage, but some of the more recent ones have been bigger and more complex than ever. I like to think that I now have the experience to offer my support to others who may need help and guidance.
Publishing
In the last 20 years or so, publishing has become easier than ever and the rise of on-demand self-publishing services has made the process simple enough, at first glance, for anyone to do it themselves.
Paperback proofs from Amazon and Lulu |
I've published several books through Blurb.com and several longer, text heavy books using lulu.com and also using Amazon and their KDP platform. I am happy to offer advice and support for all these platforms. It needn't be as difficult as you might think. All you really need is some text and the will to make it happen. It can be good to get a little help and advice from someone who has done it before, though.
I've also helped to publish several books locally, including dealing with Nielsen for the registration and use of ISBN numbers. I've access to a range of printing companies, both locally and in the UK. I use the PridePride website and logo to publish my own works and offer advice and support.
Why not get in touch if you want some advice about getting your work published. I'll be happy to help to whatever degree you require.
