Tandala Tented Camp, Ruaha

The tented camp at Tandala is a small, family-run lodge that offers access to the main Ruaha National Park gate from just a few kilometres away. The tents are well appointed and mounted on wooden piles to offer a fantastic view from the veranda into the surrounding bush. The camp waterhole is often visited by wildlife, including antelope, elephants and giraffes.

The lodge offers a well-appointed bar and lounge, along with a comfortable dining room and  small swimming pool. The tents are comfortable, with either twin or double beds and a well-appointed bathroom with a good shower. Lighting at night is supplied by a solar-powered, battery-backed system that gives light through the night as required. There is ample charging facilities in the bar for your phone, laptop or camera.

The grounds are well maintained and there are a huge variety of birds to be seen in and  around the camp. The lodge is a few kilometres from the park gate and the road is fairly good.

I'm giving Tandala an eight. The host was pleasant, the food was good and the lodge was comfortable, close to the park and had wildlife visiting at times.
